Welcome to Explaining Faith (“the Site”), a personal research and content project created and maintained by Sean-tai (“I,” “me,” or “the Site owner”). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to the terms below.

1. Nature of the Site#

Explaining Faith is a personal, independent research and content project covering Christian theology, apologetics, discernment, and personal Bible study. The Site is not affiliated with any church, denomination, or organization unless explicitly stated. Content is offered for informational, educational, and devotional purposes.

The Site operates across three connected properties:

  • Journal (explainingfaith.com) — long-form articles, personal Bible study research, investigative pieces, and writing on theology, apologetics, and discernment.
  • Compass (compass.explainingfaith.com) — quick-reference material including topic guides, study guides for Journal articles, verse listings, glossary entries, and navigational content connecting readers to relevant Journal articles and Collections resources.
  • Collections (collections.explainingfaith.com) — a curated library of externally-produced videos, podcasts, and websites, personally selected and annotated, representing content the Site owner finds valuable rather than content owned or produced by the Site.
2. Encouraging Discernment#

Explaining Faith actively encourages discernment — not just as a defense against misinformation elsewhere, but as a practical habit to bring to this Site itself and to any other source of information you encounter. We are called to be prudent rather than simple, giving real thought to what we accept (Proverbs 14:15), and to test everything, holding fast only to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).

You are encouraged to approach every article, study guide, and curated resource on this Site the way the Bereans approached Paul’s own teaching — receiving it with genuine eagerness, but examining the Scriptures daily to see if it holds up (Acts 17:11). Nothing here, including this page, should be accepted at face value without your own verification. Where information or interpretation is offered, we encourage you to test it against Scripture directly, seek wisdom in prayer (James 1:5), and remain alert to teaching that may not be presented with good intentions (Matthew 7:15).

The research and study shared on this Site is offered as a starting point for your own continued study — not as a final word. You are encouraged to use it as a launching point for your own discernment and Bible study, building on it, testing it, and continuing further than this Site alone takes you. This habit of discernment reflects the Site’s own conviction that truth is worth verifying, and that a reader’s trust should always rest on Scripture itself, not on any single teacher, article, or platform, including this one.

3. No Professional Advice#

Nothing on this Site constitutes professional counseling, pastoral care, legal advice, medical advice, or mental health guidance. If you are experiencing a personal crisis, please seek help from a qualified professional or appropriate crisis service in your area.

4. Content Ownership#

Original written content on this Site — including Journal articles and Compass materials — is the intellectual property of the Site owner unless otherwise noted. You may read, reference, and share links to this content. You may not republish, reproduce, or distribute substantial portions of it for commercial purposes without prior written permission.

Bible quotations are used under their respective licenses (e.g., the Berean Standard Bible, released under CC0 public domain).

5. Collections and Third-Party Content#

The Collections section curates links to videos, podcasts, and websites created by third parties. The Site owner does not own, control, or claim credit for this external content, and inclusion of a specific video or resource does not constitute endorsement of everything else produced by that creator or platform. Links may become outdated or unavailable, as they depend on third-party hosting.

6. Acceptable Use#

You agree not to use the Site to distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access, scrape content at scale, or otherwise interfere with the Site’s normal operation.

7. Comments#

If comment functionality is enabled on any part of the Site, comments are moderated at the Site owner’s discretion. Offensive, defamatory, or unlawful comments may be removed without notice.

8. Future Products#

Should printed books, audiobooks, or other products become available for purchase through this Site or related properties, such purchases will be governed by the terms of the retailer or platform through which they are sold (e.g., Amazon, IngramSpark), in addition to these Terms.

9. Limitation of Liability#

The Site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. The Site owner is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content.

10. Changes to These Terms#

These Terms may be updated periodically. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Contact#

Questions about these Terms can be directed to [contact email].

    About Explaining Faith

Explaining Faith started as a private Bible study — a personal, ongoing practice of studying Scripture and apologetics for genuine understanding, not built from the outset to be public-facing. Over time that study became a gathered collection: research, sourced answers, historical context, and theological work organized the way anyone might build a private reference library, except built specifically to be used — as a kind of copilot when actually sharing the gospel with someone, ready with real, well-grounded answers in the moment rather than having to reconstruct an argument from scratch mid-conversation. The whole point was never just to collect knowledge privately. It was to have it organized and close at hand for the moment it's actually needed — sharing the gospel with someone else.
